Mentor Program

Fall in love with some activity, and do it! Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn’t matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough. Work as hard and as much as you want to on the things you like to do the best. Don’t think about what you want to be, but what you want to do. Keep up some kind of a minimum with other things so that society doesn’t stop you from doing anything at all.

About

The Program

After spending the past six years mentoring engineering students and building a beautiful, engaged community through social media, I decided to start a mentoring program — one where not only me, but also my friends, colleagues, and other experienced engineers can mentor students and young professionals.

This program is meant to help students navigate their path in the engineering field — from questions like should I do mechanical or electrical, how do I prepare for an interview, how do I get an internship, or what do controls engineers actually do?

In this program, you’ll meet with your mentor once a month for three months. You’ll also have access to our resume and interview prep workshops, and your mentor will help you review your resume and get you ready for your next opportunity.

This program is completely voluntary, so please be respectful and mindful of everyone’s time.
If you’re feeling generous, you can buy us a coffee.

Love Notes

Anthony

“To EngineersTeaTime and Mentors, I didn’t know what to expect from a mentorship like this, but it was so much better than I imagined. Meeting once a month worked really well for me. The program helped me better understand what the expectations are when applying for the engineering career I’m striving for. The workshops and my meetings with my mentor helped understand the level of preparedness I need to be a competitive applicant- especially when it comes to my resume content. With all the knowledge I’ve gained, I feel more confident going into interviews because I now have a clearer understanding of the professional interview environment. I especially appreciate learning how to view the process from the interviewer’s perspective and how to tailor my resume to better appeal to the companies I’m applying to. Thank you so much, Mel and Mentors, for taking your free time to help prepare the next generation of engineers. I truly admire all of your passion for engineering, and I hope to carry some of that with me into my future engineering endeavors. Much love.”

“Meeting everyone, even across different time zones, was something I truly looked forward to each week. The sessions opened up a much broader perspective on what it really means to grow as an engineer, far beyond just technical skills. Mel, you brought such warmth and clarity to every workshop. The way you explained how to understand people, build trust, and navigate interviews was incredibly eye‑opening. Your experiences helped me reflect on my own strengths and areas for growth, and I’m genuinely grateful for that. This program has been a meaningful part of my journey, and I’m thankful to have been part of it. Cheers to many more sessions :)”

“This mentor program was an incredible resource for me! As full-time engineering student working part time, this provided me with opportunities to learn about aspects of the engineering field that I wasn’t familiar with so I could be more proactive when crafting my resume, applying to internships, and prepping for interviews. Best part, it was free! I’d highly recommend it to anyone on the engineering path and looking for guidance and support!”

“The EngineersTeaTime Mentor Program is perfect for fellow aspiring engineers who are still navigating their journey. The mentorship bridged the gap between theory and the actual work field in a way my classes never did. Highly recommend to anyone looking to kickstart their engineering career, even for students!”
